Statement

I am creating an unbound illuminated manuscript titled Tether, a name that references the themes of freedom and restriction that underlie each chapter. I explore overcoming fear in each: Pets and childhood grief, Dreams and empowerment within the subconscious, and Plants and the tension of containment and transition. The script I use in my work is a mix of untranslatable asemic writing, and alphabet codes obscuring free verse poetry. I’m invested in the intimacy of detail, and how meaning can be both encrypted and offered at once.
