Featuring Katheryn Horne and Eileen Roscina

Roscina’s multimedia installation poses the question: Is there still space for wonderment in nature amidst our current catastrophic ecological change? Make Hay While the Sun Shines uses the idea of the trace, the residue of objects—in addition to time-based works—to examine complex tensions of biophilia, awe, and loss as we enter together into an unknown future.

Horne documents her experiences of reclaiming her Ho-Chunk culture using printmaking, paper cutting, and collage. Horne uses storytelling to share her knowledge with her family, community, and those who view her work.

Boulder Apple Tree Project

The 2023 Apple Symposium

Join the Boulder Apple Tree Project and EBIO 1250 for the Apple Symposium 2023 at the University of Colorado Museum of Natural History. This year, we will have two events. The first event will be an Apple Morphology workshop held in the BioLounge from 1-2:30 pm with guests from the Historic Fruit Tree Working Group and then the Apple Symposium from 3-6 pm with guest speaker Dan Bussey in the Paleontology Hall and student posters in the Tree Space Gallery. For those unable to attend in person, each talk from the Paleontology Hall will be accessible via Zoom and the poster sessions will be available via Padlet.

Brakhage Center for Media Arts

The last of this Fall’s “Experimental Thursdays” lunchtime screenings will happen this coming Thursday (November 30) at 12:30-2:00 pm.

Brakhage Center joins forces for the third year running with both LQBTQ Studies at CU, and the Visual AIDS Organization, for DAY WITHOUT ART: An International Day of Action and Mourning in Response to the AIDS crisis. This year’s event will occur in ATLAS 311 at 5 pm on November 30th. This year’s program, titled Everyone I Know Is Sick consists of five new videos generating connections between HIV and other forms of illness and disability.

On Thursday, December 7, Cody Norton (MFA candidate in Sculpture & Post-studio Practice) will finish his residency with an Artist Talk, to be delivered, along with a screening of his video work, at 4 pm. Norton’s presentation is titled “Birds of Prey: Acts of Reconstruction.”
