Mahda Purmehdi

Mahda Purmehdi (b. 1994) is a filmmaker from Tehran, Iran. He started his filmmaking practice working with narrative forms, but gradually moved towards experimental and non-narrative traditions. Currently, he is working primarily with 16mm and handmade film. His interests and areas of focus include home movies and diary/essay films, genre cinema (especially Horror genre) and questions concerning the ontology of photographic/cinematic image, film’s corporeality, dreams and memory. Mahda received his BFA in Film from Tehran University of Art in 2019 and is currently pursuing his MFA in Filmmaking at the University of Colorado Boulder.
