About

Sponsored by the CU Boulder Student Government and funded in large part by student activity fees, we provide accessible professional legal assistance to eligible students

Our philosophy is simple—we strive to:

  • Communicate clearly, openly and honestly with students who come to see us about the realities of, potential outcomes for and costs likely associated with their legal situations.
  • Work with those students based on our communications to set goals for their situations.
  • Help put those students in the best positions possible to realize their goals so that they can focus on school.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide students with comprehensive legal support and education so they are able to pursue their academic goals without unnecessary legal distractions.

Our Values

Confidential

SLS is bound by the attorney/client privilege. You can rest assured that your communications with us are confidential.

Affordable

SLS provides high-quality legal services at a fraction of the cost of a private attorney. If you are paying student activity fees, you are eligible to use SLS.

Understanding

SLS does not pass judgment. We welcome all eligible students to contact us about any kind of legal situation they are facing. If we cannot help with your issue, we can likely give you a referral.

Convenient

SLS is located on main campus for in-person meetings. Virtual meetings are also available.

Experienced

SLS lawyers have decades of experience advising and representing clients both in and out of the courtroom.

Our confidentiality promise

Students who visit SLS are entitled to the same confidentiality all lawyers in Colorado provide to their clients. We will not talk to anyone about a student's case (e.g., family members, the university or Student Conduct & Conflict Resolution) without the student's permission—except in a few situations authorized by the Colorado Rules of Professional Conduct for attorneys.
