Theodora Chaspari

Theodora Chaspari is an Associate Professor in the Institute of Cognitive Science (ICS) and in Computer Science at University of Colorado Boulder. She has received her Ph.D. (2017) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California (USC). Theodora’s research focuses on affective computing, human-centered and responsible machine learning, and health analytics. She is a recipient of the CU Boulder Exceptional Graduate Faculty Mentor Award (2026), TEES Dean of Engineering Excellence Award (2022), and NSF CAREER Award (2021). Papers co-authored with her students have been nominated and won awards at the ACM BuildSys, IEEE ACII, ASCE i3CE, and IEEE BSN conferences. She is serving as an Editor of the Elsevier Computer Speech & Language, IEEE Transactions on Affective Computing, and IEEE Journal of Biomedical Health Informatics. Her work has been supported by the NSF, NIH, NASA, IARPA, AFOSR, Lockheed Martin, General Motors, and the Engineering Information Foundation.
