Maria Pacheco

Maria Pacheco is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Colorado Boulder. She is also a faculty fellow at CU’s Institute of Cognitive Science, and affiliated faculty in the Department of Information Science. Maria works in the areas of Natural Language Processing (NLP), Machine Learning and Computational Social Science. She studies and develops methods to integrate structured knowledge and machine learning for NLP, with a focus on discourse modeling tasks. She is also broadly interested in applications of NLP for human factors and socio-technical systems: e.g., science communication and discovery, media distribution and analysis, education, collaboration, and safety.
