With support of the Office of the Provost, the Office of the Registrar has placed a moratorium on new requests for common final exams, effective for the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 exam schedules. We're conducting a thorough review of common exams as well as of how final exams, in general, are scheduled at CU Boulder.
An increase in common exams in recent years has resulted in issues related to equity, space, overlapping common exams for students and increased complexity in managing the final exam schedule each semester.
We anticipate proposing a new model and related policies for both standard and common exams by Spring 2021 for implementation in Fall 2021.
