DIGITAL PUBLISHING PRACTICUM, Dr. Jay Ellis

Students from all majors learn digital and print publishing. After eight years as Journal Twenty Twenty, CU’s home for art and Creative Nonfiction now publishes as Hindsight. This Practicum introduces new staff to powerful job skills guided by veterans, with significant freedom across Journal departments: Editorial (Submittable acquisitions; Word editing), Art Direction and Digital Production (Photoshop and InDesign compositing and layout), A/V Production (Final Cut Pro X and DaVinci Resolve), Online Publishing (Squarespace), Marketing (Mailchimp newsletters and social media advertising campaigns with HootSuite), Business (contracts, fundraising, and budgets in Excel), and leadership roles in project management (advanced Google Drive and Trello). No experience required to work collaboratively and publish our next issue—in print and online.
