CU Boulder Bike News - March 2022

Woman biking vector.

In this edition of CU Bike News, we celebrate Women’s History Month, the one millionth B-Cycle rider and prize winner, and a successful Winter Bike to Work Day.

Susan B. Anthony once said that bicycling “has done more to emancipate women than anything else in the world. It gives women a feeling of freedom and self-reliance.” Bikes have certainly made a big impact in the world, but women have done even more. So keep on riding, and celebrate the women around you, around the world!

This edition of the newsletter also includes an updated trivia section; click on the article to open a more interactive experience. Please share your thoughts on this new feature by emailing us at buffscommute@colorado.edu or leaving a note in this spreadsheet. We hope you enjoy the read!

One Million Rides!

CU Bike Program News
Convenience and flexibility. Ravin, CU student and one millionth B-Cycle rider, cited these factors in explaining why he uses the bike share program frequently. As the one millionth B-Cycle rider, Ravin received a prize package prepared by CU's Environmental Center. The package included fun items like Pit Viper shades, a Mountain Smith soft-sided cooler, a bike shaped pizza cutter, and more. Next up: two million rides!

WBTWD Success

Community News & Events
In spite of the winter conditions, 97 riders stopped by the campus breakfast station on Friday, Feb. 11, which was hosted by the Environmental Center. Participants received free breakfast burritos, coffee and swag before heading off to work or class. Let’s continue building upon this success and promote a healthy, environmentally-friendly alternative to driving all year long. We hope to see you on June 22 this year, when Colorado celebrates Bike to Work Day!

Safety
With more daylight in the evening, you may find yourself out later than usual. If you’re out riding, don’t forget to bring a bike light! Being seen and being able to see is a key factor of cycling safety.
