CU Boulder Bike News - June 2022

Walk and Bike Month Banner Logo.

After two long years, Bike to Work Day is back on June 22, 2022. Ditch your vehicle, grab your bike and join us to celebrate Bike to Work Day! This year’s theme is “Shifting Gears,” and we’re encouraging you to rethink how you get around. Instead of driving, try biking--it’s good for the environment, your health, and your wallet. Some participants try to hit as many stations as possible. Others are happy to find a scenic spot to mingle with a few other folks. The point is to get on your bike wherever you're headed that morning!

That being said, we understand that biking may not be possible for everyone. Consider using resources such as B-Cycle (electric bikes, rides are free on Bike to Work Day) and Lime scooters, although refraining from driving your car is already a step in the right direction.

Tips

Things To Keep in Mind: BTWD 2022

Plan for the weather: Our summer event can be mild in the morning, but temperatures often peak in the afternoon. Bring water, sunscreen and maybe a change of clothes to stay cool and comfortable.

You may find a new way to get around: After participating in a Bike to Work Day event, you may decide that riding a bike is easier, more efficient, and just plain more fun than driving.

You don't need to be going to work: Expect to participate even if work isn't your destination! You can be riding anywhere, even for fun, to participate and score free breakfast during Bike to Work Day.
