The start of the school year brings a new hustle and bustle to campus. In the next few weeks, there will be plenty of exciting events on campus–including Bike Fest on September 1! Read on to find out more bike-related news in this month’s edition of CU Bike News.

Bike Fest 2022 (Used Bike Sale!)

CU's annual bike fest is almost here! Come celebrate bikes on Thursday, Sept. 1, from 2:00-6:00 pm at Farrand Field and enjoy free food, music, and games. Chat with local bike-related businesses and bike advocacy groups, and if you are on the hunt for a bike to buy, get there early to scope out the annual used bike sale!

Buffalo Bicycle Classic 2022

Since 2003, the Buffalo Bicycle Classic has raised $3.4 million dollars in scholarships for CU students. There is still time to register for the event, which includes nine route options and a virtual ride! Use code CHANGELIVES for $15 off registration (valid through 9/1/2022).

30th St. and Colorado Ave. Construction Closure!

CU Bike Program News
Except for the Buff Bus, the intersection of 30th and Colorado Ave. will be fully closed to pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicle traffic from Saturday, Sept. 10 to Friday, Sept. 23. The intersection will be elevated to allow for the completion of two bike and pedestrian underpasses, designed to enhance bike and pedestrian safety. The Buff Bus will run from 7am until 5pm and then will be rerouted.

August 2022

Answer: Roughly 700 bikes are cleared from campus each year. Usable bikes are taken in by the ECenter and refurbished for the annual used bike sale. The remaining bikes are recycled or donated to non-profit organizations.
