Gus Hennings will be joining the department in January 2027. He will be recruiting PhD students for the Cognitive Program program in the upcoming recruitment cycle (applying Fall 2026, starting Fall 2027).
 
Education: Ph.D., The University of Texas at Austin (2022)
 
Research Interests: Research in the Affective Learning & Translational Memory (AltMem) Lab focuses on understanding the neural and cognitive mechanisms of emotional learning and memory processes in humans. We also seek to understand how dysregulation in these processes may contribute to anxiety- and trauma-related disorders. We leverage our findings to test novel, neuroscience-informed interventions in both healthy adults and clinical populations. The main research tools used in our lab include neuroimaging (fMRI, EEG), real-time neurofeedback, eye-tracking, and computational modeling.
