CU Psychology and Neuroscience Associate Professor June Gruber (Clinical) was in the news, with an article appearing in the Daily Camera about a course she teaches entitled the "Science of Happiness." She recently won Arts & Science's Cogswell Award for Inspirational Teaching, and this class has proven to very popular undergraduates, though for perhaps the paradoxical reason that the class isn't about the pure pursuit of happiness, but rather that too much emphasis on the pursuit of happiness for its own sake can have the opposite effect—it can leave a person more prone to anxiety and depression and destructive behaviors.
