CU Psychology and Neuroscience Assistant Professors Mike Baratta and Dave Root (both Behavioral Neuroscience) were in the news, being interviewed by CU Boulder Today about some research of theirs recently published in Molecular Psychiatry. Their research, using an animal model of stress and stress resilience, demonstrated that targeting a region of the brain called the ventral tegmental area (VTA), showed that animals who had that region temporarily shut down showed no ill effects of previously stressful events compared to animals that had not had that region silenced.
