Nick HaynesCU Psychology and Neuroscience graduate student Nick Haynes (Behavioral Neuroscience), mentored by Ryan Bachtell, will present his dissertation research in the Graduate School's inaugural Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition in the UMC's Glenn Miller Ballroom on February 20, 2018. This is the final round of CU's local competition. The winner receives $1500 and funding from the Graduate School to attend and present at the western regional competition in Las Vegas later in March (2nd and 3rd place winners also receive prizes). The 3MT, founded by the University of Queensland in 2008, is an academic competition that cultivates graduate students’ presentation and research communication skills and challenges them to describe their research within three minutes to a general audience. Competitors are allowed one PowerPoint slide, but no other resources or props. Today, over 600 universities hold 3MT competitions across 63 countries.
