Among other popular media reports, he was interviewed by Denver's local Channel 7 outlet. Some research from his lab using a rat model has demonstrated that an unapproved pre-term labor medication may create a higher risk for the development of autism and epilepsy in the fetuses of pregnant mothers. This increased risk of both autism and epilepsy only occurred when the medication, terbutaline, was administered to pregnant rats with elevated stress levels.
