From Vice Chancellor Mull: Opportunities for Buffs to get involved

Hi Buff families,

I am grateful we have had such a beautiful fall so far. Autumn in Boulder is truly special, with the bright and sunny days paired with the changing leaves and cooler temperatures. We had a wonderful time celebrating Homecoming this month and it was heartwarming to see so much Buff pride last weekend. We have plenty of other opportunities to continue celebrating the fall season with gameday huddles, fall crafting at DIY Nights and other fun student events.

In addition to seasonal activities, the upcoming month offers the chance for Buffs to get more involved on campus. We had the Be Involved Fair earlier this semester, and students can continue to join organizations, programs and events all year long. If your Buff is looking for a student organization to join, encourage them to browse BuffConnect and connect with the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) to find groups that match their interests. There are additional involvement opportunities for students through the Volunteer Resource Center, the Rec Center, the Environmental Center, the Center for Inclusion and Social Change and Residence Life.

This fall also allows for civic engagement and students to get involved in their community. We will have not only local, state and national elections on Tuesday, Nov. 5, but CU Student Government elections will also happen that first week of November. Beyond voting in elections, I encourage our Buffs to explore other ways to engage and use their voice. CSI has resources and events for students to learn more about civic engagement this fall.

Additionally, October will see one of our great fall traditions—Family Weekend. I am so excited to welcome you to campus to participate in events like the Take Care Street Fair and Pearl Street Stampede the night before our home football game. I also encourage you to try some of our exceptional dining options on campus while you are here. With 15 locations, there is something for everyone to enjoy!

Wherever your student may be in their academic journey, visiting is a great opportunity to learn about their life at CU. Be sure to ask about what your Buff’s classes are like, where they like to eat and study on campus, and what they like to do outside of class.

Once again, I look forward to connecting with you during Family Weekend. Please stop and say hi if you see me around campus! If you are not able to attend Family Weekend this year, I hope you have the opportunity to visit your student and explore campus with them soon.

Warmly,
Dr. D’Andra Mull
