This is a resource and guide for CU departments who would like to communicate with incoming students and CU families.

Incoming Students

New Student and Family Programs communicates with incoming students from the date of matriculation until the first day of classes.

Overview: The purpose of this newsletter is to provide students with action steps, campus resources and other helpful information.

Timing: Boulder Bound Emails begin after the first matriculation date:

  • Fall: Twice per month from May through mid-July; weekly from July through the week before classes start.
  • Spring: Weekly from the end of December through the week before classes start.

Overview: These emails are a combination of automatic and scheduled emails that are sent based on the student’s matriculation date to guide them through the onboarding process. Additional emails are sent as needed to students who have not completed a specific action item in the onboarding process.

Timing: Sent automatically based on matriculation date and sent based on inaction.

Overview: Buff 2 Buff calls are one of the many engagement tools utilized by New Student and Family Programs to interact with and assist new students in their transition to the university.  The Buff 2 Buff program capitalizes on peer connection and education with current students known as Journey Leaders. These student leaders call new students to welcome them to the university and assist them in the completion of their next steps.

Timing: Calls are made during the new student process as needed and are prioritized based on the remaining items students need to complete prior to class registration and beginning their time at CU.
