Vilja Hulden received her PhD in history from the University of Arizona in 2011. Her work makes use of digital humanities technologies like text mining, machine learning, and social network analysis, and she is particularly interested in the applications of Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques to historical research and resource development. Besides a variety of digitally inclined projects, she is currently completing a book manuscript on labor unions, employer organizations, and the meanings of collective action in the early twentieth century; it is under advance contract with the University of Illinois Press.
