Ethan McGinnis

Ethan McGinnis joined the Department of Linguistics in February 2023. He previously worked in sponsored research administration at Northwestern University, specializing in cost sharing management. Ethan earned an MFA in studio art in 2020 from the University of California - Irvine, where he served in a variety of administrative capacities, and was an original and active member of the Climate Futures Collective. His artistic and scholarly research is largely concerned with mapping the entangled influences of Orientalism, American Egyptomania, and biblical narrative on specific practices of settler-colonial placemaking in the midwestern United States. He enjoys car camping and commuting via bicycle, and will jump at any chance to catch a total solar eclipse.
