Welcome Matt Thompson, Christopher Walker, and Subin Sahu

Matt_Chris_Subin

The Shirts Group welcomes three new members, Matt Thompson, Christopher Walker, and Subin Sahu. Dr. Thompson joined the group as a software scientist with the Open Force Field Initiative where he will contribute to software infrastructure that is used in developing and using next-generation molecular mechanics force fields. He completed a Ph.D. at Vanderbilt University studying the physical properties of ionic liquids. Dr. Walker will work on developing guidelines by which short nonbiological heteropolymers with sequence specificity can fold into secondary structures using coarse-grained molecular modeling. He completed his Ph.D. at North Carolina State University before joining us. Dr. Sahu was a postdoc with a joint appointment between the National Institute of Standard of Technology (NIST) at Gaithersburg MD and the University of Maryland College Park. He will study the structures of the self-assembled lyotropic liquid crystal (LLC) membrane as well as investigate the transport of small molecules in the nanochannels of these membranes.
