Research/Specialization
With degrees in three majors (Automation, Computational Engineering, Mechanical Engineering) from three countries (China, Germany, U.S.), Dr. Zuo's research is highly interdisciplinary and collaborative. His current research focuses on smart, sustainable and resilient buildings, communities and cities. He has contributed to multiple open source programs, including Modelica Buildings Library for building energy and control systems, Fast Fluid Dynamics for indoor airflow simulation, Modelica Net Zero Energy Community library, and Modelica Smart and Connected Community Library. He has served as PI for nearly 30 research projects sponsored by NSF, DOE, DOD, DHS etc. with more than $7M research grant. He has supervised more than 15 Ph.D. students and published more than 100 peer reviewed papers. Prior to joining the CU Boulder, he was an Assistant Professor at the University of Miami and Research Scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
