ISSS Guidance on Campus Shift to Remote Instruction
Starting on September 23, all University of Colorado Boulder course instruction will be temporarily moving to an online format for two weeks, as explained in Chancellor Phil DiStefano’s message to the campus community on September 21, 2020.
- If you are a new or continuing/returning international student in F-1 status and you are in the U.S. studying at the University of Colorado Boulder, this temporary change to remote instruction does not affect your F-1 immigration status at this time based on the current SEVP COVID-19 guidance. A full course of study or approved equivalent, is still required to maintain F-1 status.
- If you are a new or continuing/returning international student in J-1 status and you are in the U.S. studying at the University of Colorado Boulder, a temporary or permanent change to remote instruction does not affect your J-1 immigration status based on the current Department of State guidelines. A full course of study or approved equivalent is still required to maintain J-1 status.
ISSS will continue to monitor the situation and we will notify students if anything changes. We understand that moving to an all remote instruction format, even temporarily, can be challenging Remember CAPS is still available to assist with strategies to reduce stress and anxiety during these uncertain times. If you are concerned that you may have contracted COVID-19, then please know that there are testing options for both on-campus and off-campus students. ISSS is here to help you with any immigration concerns you may have and we encourage you to contact us by email or on our remote zoom advising sessions.
