Peter H. Wood taught early American history at Duke University and is now an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado Boulder. His influential book, Black Majority (1974) about slavery in colonial South Carolina is now in an expanded 50th-anniversary edition. He is a co-author of the U.S. History survey, Created Equal (5 editions) and Winslow Homer’s Images of Blacks: The Civil War and Reconstruction Years (1988). Other works include:
