Advisor: Tim Weston • Jin Kim is a first-year Ph.D. student specializing in Sino-Indian relations during the Cold War. She researches the way China and India envisioned postcolonial Asia and the role of ideology in their visions. Particularly, she focuses on ideological and intellectual interactions between the Chinese Communist Party and the Communist Party of India and the way their relations affected China and India’s state-to-state relationship and their schemata for decolonization in Asia. More broadly, she is interested in the making of the Third World, decolonization, and the Cold War in Asia.
