Job Description/Summary:

Undergraduate Lab Assistants provide in-class, hands-on support in the Geography techniques courses, including GEOG3023 Statistics and Geographic Data, GEOG 3053 GIS Mapping, and GEOG4103 GIS: Spatial Analytics

Job Duties and Qualifications:

The Lab Assistant (LA) is responsible for assisting the graduate teaching assistant during the entire semester in answering student questions during lab session. The LA duties also include meeting with the course instructor and the graduate teaching assistant at regular intervals (weekly or as necessary) throughout the semester to discuss weekly exercises and problems that may arise. The LA must be prepared for each computer lab session by reviewing the lab material. The LA will be directed by the instructor and the graduate teaching assistant regarding procedures and strategies in answering student questions.

Qualifications:

Undergraduate Students with prior completion of the course assisting in (GEOG3023, GEOG3053, GEOG4103). Estimated number of hours a week: 3 to 8 hours per week depending on number of labs assigned.

Varies per semester depending on course enrollment

Compensation

Pay rate or range: $18.00 /hr
NOTE: In lieu of monetary compensation, students may choose to perform the work for 2-3 upper division GEOG Independent Study credits (GEOG3840)
