November 16, 2024 Moon and Jupiter
Once again, the Moon helps us to spot another planet this month. Find the almost full, but technically 96% illuminated waning gibbous Moon rising in the east. The giant planet Jupiter will be below the Moon. Don’t miss this sight and grab a pair of binoculars to see a few of Jupiter’s moons.
Also, the Leonid meteor shower peaks tonight and early tomorrow morning. However, the Moon’s brilliance will act like a giant flashlight in the sky hampering the view of the meteors.
