Think creatively. Build innovatively. Dream fearlessly.

The Design Your Path Living and Learning Community (LLC) in Farrand Hall is a supportive residential home for students to craft their own journeys and campus experiences through an innovation and exploration lens. Exploratory Studies students are eligible to apply to become members of the community.

In this cohort residential experience, students get the chance to discover what they’re passionate about, build upon skills they already have, find ways to enhance their lives and impact society. Over the course of an academic year, students engage in a required first year seminar and design thinking course, workshop series and social events to develop a personalized plan that fits their goals and dreams within an explorative community.

Design Your Path students are exposed to entrepreneurial and traditional career options that support their long-term goals. While in this living learning community residents will receive help to identify an academic degree path, get the support they need from mentors and put a plan into practice through internship opportunities, campus programs and events.

Residents who join the Design Your Path community will be expected to participate in events, communicate their wants and needs to Farrand Hall staff, meet with their academic advisor at least once a semester and follow community building guidelines set within the residence hall. Additionally, there are required courses LLC students take as a cohort within Farrand Hall both in the fall and spring semesters.
