Design Your Path LLC

Explore with purpose. Build a first-year with meaning.
The Design Your Path Living and Learning Community (LLC) in Stearns West Hall is a supportive residential home for students to broadly yet purposefully explore all that CU has to offer academically, professionally, socially, and personally. All Exploratory Studies students are eligible to apply to join the LLC.
In this residential experience, students are offered opportunities in and out of the classroom to surface interests, build interpersonal and professional skills, and connect their first-year experiences at CU to a meaningful path of study and professional exploration with purpose. Over the course of an academic year, students take an in-person first semester seminar: FYXP 2200: Portrait of an Explorer, are invited to numerous exploration-themed events including major/minor information sessions, workshops with community professionals, and academic support sessions designed for first-year college students. They’re also invited to participate in numerous social events that build a strong sense of belonging, a critical ingredient to first-year success.
Design Your Path students also have access to a dedicated Exploratory Studies program manager with extensive experience in education and student success. We work 1:1 with students on a wide range of items: from course registration to exposure to career paths, skill development, and learning how to access CU’s many resources. Through engaging in LLC programming, residents have an opportunity to be truly known at CU and get the support they need from staff and student mentors to thrive in their first year of college.
Residents who join the Design Your Path LLC will be expected to take an in-person weekly seminar course during first semester, participate in events, communicate their wants and needs to Stearns West Hall staff, meet with an academic advisor at least once a semester and follow community building guidelines set within the residence hall.
