Making the most of a snowy day

Snowfall here in Colorado has been hit or miss this year. With the recent storm we had this week though, many of you may be itching to get out and enjoy it! From heading out into the mountains to staying right in CU Boulder’s backyard, we have some ideas for you to make the most of this Colorado winter.

Ski Bus

We are very aware that many students flock to CU because they want to be close to the slopes. Because of this, we wanted to provide students with the opportunity to get out there and enjoy skiing in Colorado. The CU Ski Bus provides students, staff and faculty an affordable and convenient way to get to the ski slopes and back without the hassle of driving. Rent snowshoes from Outdoor Program

If skiing isn’t your thing, try snow shoeing! Snow shoeing is great low-impact activity that will get you out and moving. CU’s Outdoor Program offers equipment rentals that are both convenient and affordable!

Sledding

If you grew up in the snow, we can bet you’ve spent some time sledding! Sledding will bring out your inner child, which is important to do sometimes. In Boulder, there are many sledding places to check out when it snows including Scott Carpenter Park, Chautauqua Area and Foothills Community Park just to name a few.

Ice skate at The Rec or downtown Denver

We can’t forget to mention skating in potential winter time activities. If you aren’t aware, The Rec has its very own skating rink. In fact, it’s the only skating rink in Boulder. Enjoy a casual skate or get a group together for a hockey game. You could also travel down to Denver to skate because there are many outdoor rinks to choose from.

Cuddle up inside

And last but not least, we can’t forget to appeal to the population out there who despise the snow. On a snowy day, it is more than okay to hunker down in your favorite PJs and binge watch a new Netflix show! Or maybe, bake some of your favorite cookies! If you eat half the batch, we won’t tell!
