Take advantage of all the free events and activities on campus this month! Ranging from showing your school spirit at the Pearl Street Stampede to career fairs and more, there’s something for everyone.

CU Star Party

  Wednesday, Oct. 2   6:30–8:30 p.m.    Business Field
Join the Space Minor for CU’s largest star party on campus. They will bring out over a dozen telescopes for students to look at the night sky and see stars, planets, galaxies and more. Plus, there is a chance to win a free telescope and even a scholarship. This is an event you don't want to miss.

All Industries Career and Internship Fair 

  Thursday, Oct. 3   11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom
This career and internship fair is ideal for students who are seeking internships or full-time positions. Employers from all different fields of study will be at this free event.

CU women’s soccer

   Oct. 3, 6, 19, 24, 27   Prentup Field
Get out and support your CU Buffs soccer team, who are ranked No. 13 in the country! Please bring your Buff OneCard for free entry.

Celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month

  All month  UMC and C4C
October is LGBTQ+ History Month! There are events all month long, including a silent disco party and screening of Paris is Burning.

Take Care Street Fair

  Friday, Oct. 4   1:30–3:30 p.m.  Visual Arts Complex
Join your fellow Buffs for some outdoor activities, arts and crafts at the Take Care Street Fair! Free to enter with a Buff OneCard.

International Coffee Hour

  Every Friday   4–5:30 p.m.  UMC grill area
Come enjoy some free coffee, cake and amazing conversations while meeting awesome new people at the weekly International Coffee Hour. Co-hosted by International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) and CU International, it's a fun way to unwind at the end of a long week! The dining area is located across from Alfred Packer Grill.

Leo Hill Leadership Speaker Series: John Huston

  Friday, Oct. 4   6–8 p.m.    CASE, Chancellor's Auditorium
Explorer John Huston will speak about what's required to achieve extraordinary goals. He was part of the first American team to ever cross the Arctic unsupported and can speak to the skills that helped him achieve this amazing feat. Please RSVP if you're interested.

Pearl Street Stampede: Fri-Yay Nights party 

  Friday, Oct. 4   6:30–9 p.m.    HUMN 135
The night before each home game, hundreds of Buffs fans line Pearl Street Mall as the marching band plays. Join your fellow Buffs on Oct. 4 for pizza before walking to the Pearl Street Stampede together to watch the festivities. 

October's other Fri-Yay Nights will feature a men’s club soccer game versus CSU, waffle bar and Legos, and a paint session in the UMC.

Program Council Film Series

Join Program Council for free movies and popcorn throughout the month of October. This month’s movies include The Farewell, Halloweentown, Us, Ma, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and The Addams Family!

“Saving the 2nd with Dana Loesch”

  Thursday, Oct. 10   7 p.m.    Math 100​
Dana Loesch, a former spokesperson for the National Rifle Association, and author and commentator who has hosted radio and television programs will speak about the Second Amendment. Tickets are required. Please bring your valid Buff OneCard. 

CU on Friday: A Magical Treat

  Friday, Oct. 11   4–6 p.m.  UMC
Enjoy free pumpkin bread, decorate cookies and compete in Harry Potter trivia at this free event.

State of the Campus

  Tuesday, Oct. 8   9 a.m.  UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom
Whether you’re able to attend in person or remotely, join the campus community for the State of the Campus event, which will focus on the student experience and include a panel discussion.

Chris Fussell, former Navy SEAL and best-selling author of Team of Teams and One Mission will speak to students about leadership and what is required to succeed in the current environment. 

Stay and Play Dog Café

Play with therapy dogs, enjoy warm drinks and sweet treats, discover your conflict style and learn about resolving conflicts. Bring your Buff OneCard for entry.

CU Climate Action Workshop: Project Drawdown

  Wednesday, Oct. 16   4–7:30 p.m.  FLMG 33
Connect, learn and help chart a path forward for solutions-based climate change action at CU Boulder! Come with ideas on how you think CU Boulder can impact the climate crisis. Register by Oct. 14 for food. Open to all CU Boulder students!

Pizza and Perspectives

Pizza & Perspectives is a monthly lunchtime gathering featuring a panel of students from a specific region and of course, free pizza! Come hear different international student perspectives on culture, life here in the U.S., and life back home, plus get a chance to ask your own questions. This month's focus is North America (Mexico, Canada and adjacent islands).

Schultz Lecture in Energy: Energy as a Locally Desirable Land Use

Join the Getches-Wilkinson Center at Colorado Law for the 12th annual Schultz Lecture in Energy: Energy as a Locally Desirable Land Use. Registration is required to attend.

Breathe, Move, Release: Mindfulness 

  Tuesday, Oct. 22   4–6 p.m.  Farrand Field
Join for a relaxing and rejuvenating event to help you awaken your mind, body and heart. This come-as-you-are and stay-as-long-as-you-like event will offer the opportunity to experience three mindfulness exercises to incorporate into your daily routine: non-stop sun salutation, still/seated meditation and pop-up labyrinth meditation.

CU Housing Fair

  Wednesday, Oct. 30   10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom
Looking for housing for next semester or next year? The CU Housing Fair is a great chance to explore local housing options from multiple landlords, property managers and vendors. There will also be free pizza at noon, a raffle for a flat-screen TV and a Halloween costume contest.
