Project Description:

The Region 8 Drinking Water Program is offering a summer internship to assist with the direct implementation of the Safe Drinking Water Act’s Lead and Copper Rule (LCR) in Wyoming and Indian Country.  This intern will work with a team to help public water systems to implement and comply with the Lead and Copper Rule.  This intern will provide support for reviewing lead and copper sampling plans, assisting operators in determining appropriate site sampling locations, researching historical records on exceedances and corrosion control, helping public water systems to become abreast of current guidance from Headquarters related to the Lead and Copper Rule, and providing support for data management.

 

Desired Background/Skills:

Ability to quickly learn detailed information about the LCR; strong organizational and project management skills; ability to adjust to changing needs or demands as project evolves; communication and partnership skills – able to create a cooperative atmosphere through interactions with team members; able to respond to requests for information quickly and provide clear and concise information.  Background in environmental science or environmental engineering (or related fields) required; drinking water treatment knowledge preferred.
