This is a 4 week summit on HEALTH focussed Interventions/technologies creating avenues for access to health care in resource poor setups, that will be facilitated by the HIVE InnoSpace Foundation in Chennai, India from July 06, 2014 to August 01, 2014. Quality healthcare ,majorly in rural India is inaccessible to the masses due to issues pertaining to affordability, ill equipped public health system and healthcare providers not empowered enough to affect change. This leaves 700 million people without any access to specialized care one million deaths every year.
IDDS Aarogyam aims at creating holistic healthcare solutions that meets the people where they are, acknowledging their status, aspirations and dignity by bringing together a global and specialized mix of participants. These participants will undergo intensive modules that nurture co creation, instructed by experts to create basic prototypes and business models of practical technologies that improve the quality of healthcare services and render it accessible to the masses in resource poor setups.
The intense, hands on summit will bring together frontline community representatives and members from the host town, health workers, midwives, students, business leaders, engineers and designers from across the globe who will be engaged in an intensive ecosystem of learning and development working closely with local communities to be able to develop contextually relevant solutions that can be deployed to strengthen the healthcare system and empower the various stakeholders in the process.
The summit will feature Zubaida Bai, founder of ayzh and some eminent instructors from MIT’s Design Lab. By the end of the 4 week experience, the participants will create about 9 prototypes and business models that will aid public private partnership in the health space and promote adoption in the communities where they are designed. While these prototypes and business models will be designed specifically to support the creation of inclusive healthcare solutions in the communities where the summit is organized, the intention is that they will have the potential to scale and replicate across geographies in need of access to quality healthcare.
