When a faculty member holds an administrative appointment, their merit formula will be revised for the time they are in that particular administrative appointment.

Department Chairs and Program Directors

Selection of incoming chair/faculty director should be determined during spring semester to ensure the appointments can be processed prior to the start date of July 1st. The unit should work in conjunction with unit bylaws and the dean when selecting a new chair/faculty director. 

A 20% AY administrative stipend is provided to each department chair; a 10% AY administrative stipend is provided to each program director.

Department chair and program directors should develop a set of annual performance goals with the dean.

Associate Chairs and Associate Program Directors

Selection of incoming associate chair/associate program directors should be determined during the spring semester to ensure the appointments can be processed prior to the start date of July 1st. The unit should work in conjunction with unit bylaws and report these appointments to the dean for concurrence. 

A 5% AY administrative stipend is provided to each associate chair and each associate program director. 

Associate Chairs and Associate Program Directors should develop a set of annual performance goals with the chair or program director.
