BA in Elementary Education

The BA in Elementary Education prepares anti-racist elementary teachers who create classrooms that are welcoming to all students and who treat all students with dignity and care. Graduates develop the knowledge and tools to provide rich opportunities for all students to learn, and complete coursework for an elementary teaching license and an endorsement for teaching culturally linguistically diverse students. We integrate courses and fieldwork that prepare teachers to embrace diversity and to become reflective, ethical and responsive teachers, who aim to make the world a more just place.

Teacher Licensure Pathways

We offer an Elementary Education program for those interested in teaching grades K-6, and Secondary Teacher Licensure programs for teacher candidates interested in a teaching license for grades 7-12. Students in secondary teacher licensure programs first declare a major suitable for the subject they want to teach, and pair that focus with teacher education coursework and practica experiences to prepare them to teach in a given subject area.

STEM teacher education students gain added support from the renowned CU Teach program.
