CU Residence Hall and Campus Policies:

  • CU reserves the right to enter any room/apartment for the purpose(s) of inspection, repairs, extermination services, or to control the room/apartment in the event of an epidemic, emergency or any other reason in accordance with university policies.
  • CU reserves the right to remove any person(s) causing a disruption from the premises.
  • CU is not responsible for any damage or loss of personal property. Belongings left behind will be deemed abandoned and disposed of per university policy.
  • Participants are prohibited from altering, damaging or defacing buildings, floors, furniture, fixtures or equipment on campus.
  • Pets are not allowed in campus facilities with the exception of documented ADA service animals requested and given written approval more than 30 days prior to the start of your event.
  • The University’s standard bed height is 35 inches. Bed height alternation by Event Sponsor or Event Sponsor participants is prohibited. Reasonable accommodation for bed height alternation requests will be made by Owner based on documented ADA needs.  Height alternation requests must be submitted by Event Sponsor at least sixty (60) business days prior to campus arrival for review and approval.
  • Room and Security Doors
    • Please keep your rooms locked at all times. Keep your room key with you at all times.
    • Do not use the dead bolt to prop open the doors.
    • DO NOT PROP OPEN ANY OF THE OUTSIDE DOORS. Doing so could allow anyone to get into the building or onto the floors, posing a security risk. 
    • If you see a door propped open, please un-prop it. 
    • Report anyone you think looks suspicious to the front desk immediately.
  • A master key to residence hall rooms will not be provided to anyone under any circumstances.
  • Floorplans of residence halls are not provided for security reasons.
  • Weapons
    • Weapons or firearms are NOT allowed on University premises
  • Other prohibited items:
    • Nerf guns, water guns, hover boards, glitter, bean bag chairs
  • Fire Safety
    • If the fire alarm goes off in a building, please exit immediately. You do not have to call the fire department; it will automatically ring into the local fire department
    • If tampered with, pull covers will make a loud beeping sound. When placed back on, the beeping will stop.
    • CU campus, including all residence hall rooms are smoke free.
    • Candles and incense are NOT allowed, even if they are not intended to be burned.
  • Maintenance Concerns
    • Please report ALL maintenance needs or damage immediately to the front desk
    • Willard front desk will be open 24 hours, so feel free to stop by anytime!
  • If You Lose Your Housing/Meal Card
    • If you lose your card, go to the front desk for a replacement
    • Temporary keys maybe be issued if you only need access into your sleeping room, or to retrieve your key
  • Other Groups in the Building 
    • Please be considerate of other groups, and if you have any issues with the other groups, please contact the front desk immediately
    • The residence halls have a 24 courtesy policy for noise. Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM-8:00 AM Sunday through Thursday and Midnight-8:00 AM Friday and Saturday
  • Screens and Windows
    • Do not remove the screens on the windows
    • Do not throw anything from the windows
  • Community Safety Officers (CSOs)
    • Uniformed CSOs will perform rounds of the exteriors and interiors of open halls from 6 PM to approximately 5 AM. They work with UCPD and Housing to provide support and maintain safety and security within the residence halls.
    • If CSOs encounter violations of law or residence hall policy, they will document the situation, ensure alcohol, drugs or paraphernalia are properly disposes of, and interface with on-call staff and affected residence hall staff.
