In October 2025, Robert Barba (Jour’04) joined New York Public Radio’s accountability desk overseeing state politics and climate coverage for WNYC and Gothamist. 

Previously, he spent seven years at The Wall Street Journal, where he was part of the team that produced the Journal’s comprehensive look at the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, which was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in explanatory reporting in 2022. Earlier in his career, he covered banking and fintech for Bankrate and American Banker. 

Robert is the current president of the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing and is a lifetime member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. In April, he completed his second term on the CMDI's advisory board.
