The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) is a terminal degree for those seeking a technical or research career in Chemistry. It requires completion of 30 course credit hours plus 30 hours of dissertation (60 credit hours in total), passing preliminary and comprehensive examinations, and a successful dissertation defense. Please consult the Graduate Handbook for more details.

Students are also expected to meet the requirements of the Graduate School and to make steady progress towards their Ph.D. degree.
