The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) is a terminal degree for those seeking a technical or research career in Chemistry. It requires completion of 30 course credit hours plus 30 hours of dissertation (60 credit hours in total), passing preliminary and comprehensive examinations, and a successful dissertation defense. Students are also expected to meet the requirements of the Graduate School and to make steady progress towards their Ph.D. degree.
