The Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) in collaboration with the Boulder Faculty Assembly (BFA) is hosting a one-year working group focused on climate, sustainability, justice and education (CSJE).
CU Boulder is renowned for its commitment to addressing climate, sustainability, and justice in research, teaching, and practice. The goal of this collaborative effort is to develop opportunities to learn for students to become informed decision-makers in this area both in local communities and worldwide.
During the 2024-2025 academic year, members of this working group are exploring the development of interdisciplinary and educationally-cohesive learning experiences for undergraduate students around climate, sustainability, and justice. This involves thorough evaluation of existing initiatives, programs, and courses related to these topics across CU Boulder’s campus housed in different departments. This information-gathering provides the backdrop for the identification and design of educational pathways for students (e.g., microcredentials, certificates, minors, etc.) that span departments and colleges. This design process will be guided by a set of tenets centered on climate justice, the environment and society, and action that can be taken to address current and future challenges and opportunities.
