Though I have not yet had the chance to travel much or study abroad, my family comes from Mexico and I am constantly being told of how the worlds infrastructure is a lot different in other countries than in the US.
I would consider myself a very social person and can get along with almost anyone. However, the person I would want to live down the hall form in the Global Engineering RAP is a person who is curious about everything around them, just as I am. I would want a person who is social and likes to have fun, but also a person who knows when it is time to handle business. It would also be awesome to have someone who is of the same ethnicity as me to relate to as I already know I will meet people of all different types of ethnicities and it would be nice if I relate to someone of the same background. Hopefully this person would also be passionate about engineering and willing to help me if I need more help. All in all, I am not too worried as to who I get down the hall from me, but this would be the ideal person for me.
I want to be part of this RAP as I do not have much experience with infrastructure and engineering that exists outside of Colorado. I feel like this RAP would give me a sense of the world beyond that of just Colorado. As an engineer, I will learn not only of how things are done in Colorado, but how they are done all over the world and their different styles and ways of engineering as I myself do not have much expertise in this field. This RAP will likely be full of students who care about the world and its people and therefore kind people that will make me feel compassion for those who are not as fortunate to live in a relatively well developed community with commodities. Though I may not have much expertise in global engineering, I have my own culture, like many others likely will, and as a person who has lived in Colorado my whole life less than an hour away from Boulder and just outside of Denver, I would consider myself an expert in knowing Colorado. I would love to live in a hall where we all get along and help each other as engineering is no easy major and so I would cooperate with any group activities and be an active member within the RAP.
