I traveled to Greece and Italy on a school trip through my Latin class. We were able to explore the places that used to speak Latin. It gave me an appreciation for the classes I had taken. It also made me realize the importance of getting to not just learn but also experience content. Although reading about Pompeii was interesting, getting to walk around and explore it gave me a different level of understanding. This trip exposed me to new cultures and people which made me a better student.
I want someone who is open-minded, generous, and compassionate. I want someone who would hold the elevator door for me to get in. I want someone who will start a conversation as we are both waiting for the bathroom. I think it is super important for any community that there is diversity and with that an attitude of acceptance, so I would hope that they honor that. I want someone who I can go to if I have a question on the math problem from that one class we are both in. I want someone who is passionate about making this world a better place. I want someone who is kind, energetic, and can crack a few good jokes. I want someone who is excited to be at CU. Most importantly, I want someone who has an understanding of what a community is and what it needs in order to be successful.
I want to be a member of the Global Engineering RAP because I want to leave college prepared to make a difference in this world. Although the classroom will prepare me with key engineering skills, this RAP will give me experiences that will teach me how to apply those skills to battle global poverty. I am hoping to major in Aerospace Engineering which may not be what people would expect in this RAP. I want to show people that every degree can work to improve the lives of everyone. I believe that being apart of this RAP will make me a more successful student while also exposing me to problems that will teach me to be a more compassionate person. I hope to be very involved in this community because that is how I will get the most out of it. By being involved, I can help encourage other students to do the same and get them excited about this RAP. I believe that this RAP will allow me to be the best engineer I can be.
