During the summers of 2021 and 2022, I traveled to La Junta and Grand Junction Colorado for a week with fellow students and educators. We worked with representatives from the National Park System regarding the preservation of the Sand Creek massacre site, Santa Fe Trail, Bent’s Old Fort site, Amache Internment Camp, and Native American Heritage Sites. President Biden signed the Amache National Historical Site Act in March 2022, designating the Amache site as part of the National Park system. My family and I are also traveling to Norway this summer, 2025, to explore Viking villages and reconnected with our Scandinavian roots.
Global experiences and perspectives can improve the field of engineering by diversifying it. During my time in La Junta, as mentioned above, I was able to work with locals and put myself in their shoes. This greatly improved my ability to help them.
I want to be a member of the Global Engineering RAP at CU Boulder because of my desire to help people. I believe that, by utilizing RAP and my peers' knowledge, I can broaden my impact on communities. The community at CU Boulder is incredibly tight-knit, and, if accepted, I will continue to add positivity and inclusiveness through my training.
