I have had the privilege of traveling to numerous overseas countries, including Japan, several European countries, New Zealand, and Canada. Each of these journeys has given me invaluable insights into diverse cultures and languages, shaping my interests for the Global Engineering RAP.
My time in Japan was particularly enriching as I immersed myself in conversations with my mother's side of the family and many others, communicating fluently in Japanese. Being trilingual, I've developed an acute sensitivity to the subtle distinctions of tone and emphasis inherent in different languages, a skill crucial for effective global communication.
Europe was a captivating mosaic of diversity with its abundance of different languages and cultures. Encountering various linguistic expressions and societal norms was both overwhelming and inspiring. It motivated me to pursue Italian, recognizing the importance of speaking to individuals in their native tongue as a gesture of unity and understanding.
Exploring both islands of New Zealand provided me with a profound appreciation for the country's distinct landscapes and cultural heritage. The juxtaposition of the North and South islands, coupled with the embrace of Maori culture, sparked intriguing comparisons with indigenous peoples' treatment and history in other parts of the world, such as Hawaii to which I have also traveled to.
In Canada, although sharing similarities with the US, I encountered unique vernacular and accents shaped by its status within the Commonwealth.
Observing how accents evolve alongside language and culture showed me the human desire to connect and communicate across linguistic barriers.

I envision an ideal neighbor as someone who has traveled internationally, embodying an open-minded approach towards different cultures. I would like to share a living space with someone who possesses a genuine curiosity about the world.
I want to be near someone who shares my linguistic interests, potentially even being multilingual themselves. This shared passion for languages would not only facilitate meaningful conversations but also foster a deeper understanding of global perspectives.
Overall, my travels have instilled in me a deep respect for cultural diversity and a keen awareness of the interconnectedness of global communities—a mindset for success in the Global Engineering RAP and beyond.

My extensive international travels have allowed me to have a first-person point of view of different parts of the world, and have allowed me to see the faults of inequality and structural injustice. I want to help and create something meaningful in the world that will help address this uneven spread of wealth. As an aspiring engineer, I am interested in helping contribute my knowledge and gain knowledge by traveling the world to make it a better place through my passions.
By immersing myself in the Global Engineering RAP, I see myself broadening my perspective and gaining insights into innovative approaches to tackling complex societal challenges. Engaging with like-minded people will not only help enhance my technical training but also foster personal growth with empathy, cultural sensitivity, and effective communication skills.
I am committed to actively engaging in the initiatives of the Global Engineering RAP. Whether that is through organizing awareness campaigns, participating in community service projects, or facilitating discussions on pressing global issues, I am ready to join the RAP and help create change with my passions, ultimately striving towards a more just and sustainable future for all.
