Coming from an immigrant family from southeast Asia, my family really enjoys traveling. Every year, my family and I travel outside the country at least once. Traveling to multiple places in Europe, such as France, Italy and Spain exposed me to different cultures and customs. I saw many different architectural styles, where many individual places are connected by one large building. As oppose to Asia, such as Japan, Korea and the Philippines, there are many smaller buildings more clustered together rather than connected. Similarly to Europe, Morocco has many larger vicinities that contain more detailed interiors than exteriors. This has prepared me for the Global Engineering RAP because I am accustomed to diversity and am very mindful of other cultures.
My ideal neighbor living down the hall from me in the Global Engineering RAP is someone who is respectful of one's space. I do not appreciate anyone too loud constantly or someone who lives unorganized. I enjoy a hygienic person and someone who is able to rely on me as well as me relying on them.
I want to be a member of the Global Engineering RAP at CU Boulder because I grew up in a fairly diverse community, retaining knowledge of people's cultures, languages, food, etc. I find peace in a community that is able to work together, especially when handling a similar task. Traveling around the world often has made me a more mindful person about the condition of the world as a whole and not as a divided nation.
