In 2019 I visited India and saw how they were struggling with more than just population growth and size. Their infrastructure was causing them to be held back from thriving, leading to many other issues in their country. Smog constantly floats over cities in India, this is due to unhealthy amounts of omissions that are stacking and staying low above cities. This is more than just a visual problem, it is a health problem. This experience of traveling to India has led me to realize that some issues in the US are not as bad as they seem and that with less work, more change could be brought to places, like India, and make actual life-changing differences. Instead, of working on making the US even better in terms of new infrastructure, it could be best to help other countries with their infrastructure, something I am more passionate about now than ever after seeing just how bad it is in other countries.
I would love for someone similar to me to live down the hall from me. Someone more interested in helping those who can't help themselves. Someone who can have fun but still be serious about issues in the world. Someone spontaneous and fun-seeking, yet driven to be the best student they can be. Someone who isn't afraid of exploring and trying new things, foods, or activities. Someone ambitious about their dream, because I want someone who will continue to push me to be ambitious about my dreams. Someone active, not just in moving around (sports or the gym or hiking or skiing, etc.) but also active in changing things in the world that they are passionate about. I want someone open to sharing their feeling because I will always be open to a therapy session. Someone who is not afraid of failing or asking for help. Someone who wants just as much from their education as me. Someone who will branch out from their comfort zone to help others or just experience new things. And lastly, someone who is kind and considerate to anyone they meet, no matter what.
I want to be a part of the Global Engineering RAP at CU Boulder because it provides me with everything I want out of an engineering degree. It surrounds me with people who are majoring in engineering for more than just money. It surrounds me with people who will share my interests and help me to reach my goals. This program seems like the place that I want to be, with the people that I want to be surrounded by. Everyone in this program shares a common desire, to make the world a better place using the skills that they have, and I want to be a part of that group. I want to be close with my professors so that I can get the most out of my education, this program allows for that. I would also like to be part of activities the prepare me for the outside world and helping people in need. Global Engineering RAP at CU Boulder allows me to accomplish all my goals in getting an Engineering degree and I would love to be a part of that.
