Throughout my life, I’ve traveled to many different parts of the world and experienced a variety of different cultures. However, my trip, as a Black Belt, to Sweden and Norway through the Colorado Taekwondo Institute really allowed me to understand that I want to learn and experience many more areas of the world. The purpose of the CTI World Tour is to travel around the world and learn about different cultures. During this trip, we traveled to several different cities, historical monuments, and even fjords. During this eventful week, I learned so many new things and discovered that I want to be a part of the world as a whole and not just confined to Colorado. Additionally, with my recent decision to study engineering at CU Boulder, I want to follow my passion for the world and this RAP would allow me to do so.
While school is highly important to me, and I want neighbors who put their studies first, I want to be able to make friends with fellow engineers who share my same ideas. I would like the people around me to balance their school with the social aspect of college to ensure I feel comfortable with my social and school life. Furthermore, attending college is a massive difference than high school and making new friends is tremendously important to my and other’s success.
While I believe engineering can be studied within the constraints of the United States, it is very important for me to understand everything that is happening around the world as well. To ensure that I learn to be the best engineer that I can, I feel that I need to explore everything about engineering from all parts of the world. This RAP would allow me to do just that while also surrounding myself with people who feel the same way. Additionally, this RAP would allow for me to work with my fellow engineers and receive or give help with school work or anything else. Through my experience as a Black Belt and a member of National Honor Society, I have developed the necessary leadership and teaching skills to succeed and help others succeed in this RAP. All of these things would significantly contribute to my success as an engineer at Boulder and my success beyond college as well.
