Headshot of Kelly
Kelly Mitchell is a PhD Student in the Learning Sciences and Human Development department in the School of Education. A Black woman born and raised in Denver, she has professional experience as a teacher and school administrator in state government, philanthropy, and with community-based non-profit organizations. Grounded in critical race theory and Black geographies, her research centers Black communities and their movements toward liberation as they become historical actors through heightened awareness of their histories via counter-storytelling, archive development, and policy analysis. Outside of her work and research, Kelly spends her time with her beautiful daughter, husband, and 85-pound puppy.
