Introducing and Embedding Safety Culture Concepts in Undergraduate Education

The National Academy of Construction (NAC) with the support of the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine, is convening a safety culture symposium on Thursday, February 9, 2023. The symposium is one in a series of five symposia on the topic of Introducing and Embedding Safety Culture Concepts in Undergraduate Education.  The symposia are being hosted by leading universities across the country, and the symposium on February 9, 2023, is being hosted by The University of Colorado Boulder.

The concept for the symposia is to provide a forum for interchange between the design/construction industry and educators regarding establishing a safety culture for undergraduate students in university academic programs. The goal is to better prepare these students to enter the industry and make them more attractive to potential employers.

The leadership group for the Boulder symposium is John Gambatese at Oregon State University, Keith Molenaar at CU-Boulder, and Wayne Crew and Edd Gibson at NAC.  The symposium will be in-person and will start with a light breakfast at 8:30 am and end at approximately 5:30 pm Mountain time. The symposium is for a handpicked selection of industry and academic influencers.
