Ph.D., East Asian Languages and Cultures, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 2015.
Zhiying Qian received her PhD in East Asian Languages and Cultures, with a certificate in Second Language Acquisition and Teacher Education, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2015. Before joining the University of Colorado Boulder, she taught at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Middlebury College, and the Critical Language Scholarship Program. Her research involves sentence processing by native speakers and second language learners of Chinese. Dr. Qian is currently working on two projects: 1) how contextual, syntactic, and semantic information influences sentence comprehension by second language learners of Chinese, and 2) how classifiers are processed in Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean.
