Profile

Shoshannah Zirkin Turgel is a native of Long Island, New York.  She graduated summa cum laude in History from University of Colorado at Boulder in 2004.  She then received a Masters in Library and Information Science from Long Island University and an MA in World History from New York University.  Shoshannah also spent two years as an international student of Chinese language at Fudan University in Shanghai.  Throughout her academic career, her studies have focused on modern Chinese history, and specifically Jewish migrations to China.  Shoshannah has worked in several libraries over the past ten years including the library at New York University’s Shanghai Campus.  Shoshannah played a key role in the opening and establishment of NYU’s library in Shanghai where she worked as the Access Services Librarian before returning to the United States with her family.
