Profile

Hiromi Onishi is a lecturer in the Department of Chinese, German, Italian, Japanese and Russian Studies. She has received her Ph.D. in East Asian Studies/Japanese Linguistics from the University of Arizona. Hiromi Onishi has taught beginning to advanced levels of Japanese as a foreign language and Japanese linguistics courses at Colorado College since 2015. Her primary research areas include phonetics and phonology of Japanese, second/third language acquisition, and language education for linguistic minority students. In addition to topics related to linguistics, Onishi is also interested in methodologies in foreign language education, and she regularly attends meetings on foreign language education to acquire techniques and methods she can apply in the classroom context.
